Subaru T2 Camper
This old camper is now sporting a modern Subaru 2.0 non turbo engine mated to a 2.0 VW gearbox and now it drives like a dream. This little build we had the pleasure of doing was for a genuine nice chap named Steve.
Steve brought the bright T2 Camper to us along with the Subaru engine and conversion wiring kit.
We installed heavy duty-water lines given that these were running underneath the Camper. We had to fabricate a number of extra bits and pieces to make this all work seamlessly including making some 90 degree bends out of aluminium on the lathe for the water system to be plumbed in.
We also fabricated an under floor radiator and scoop along with a heater matrix which actually blows hot air to the front!
We installed the supplied ECU under the rear bench/seat inside so it was out of view but accessible. This included installing the immobilising system hidden away here which uses the original Subaru key. This was then run through the vehicle and wired into the original key switch to keep a stock look and feel. Upfront we also installed a new rev-counter and temperature gauge mounted in the stock cluster to maintain this original appearance for the owner.
We finally produced a custom exhaust to work with the newly installed Subaru engine. And a Ramair Filter was of course installed on the finished build.
